സ്പഷ്ടം ഭൂമി മറയ്ക്കലിന്ദു തെളിയും, വീണ്ടും മുഹൂര്‍ത്തത്തില-
പ്പുഷ്ടശ്രീരവി മൂടിയാലുമുയരും പക്ഷം കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ മതി;
ദുഷ്ടക്കാലമഹാഗ്രഹത്തിനിരയായീ 'രാജരാജേ'ന്ദു! ഹാ!
കഷ്ടം 'രോഹിണി' യക്കലേശനെയിനിക്കാണില്ല കേണാലുമേ.

The following commentary was provided by Umesh P Nair:This was written when എ. ആര്‍. രാജരാജവര്‍മ്മ passed avay. ആശാന്‍ compares ARRV to a moon, which is permanently gone after a terrible eclipse, unlike the normal moon which may come back after a while after an eclipse.
There are some very good usages in this SLOkam:
ഭൂമി മറയ്ക്കുക : For the moon, it refers to the lunar eclipse. For ARRV, it refers to the fact that his body is made invisible by the Earth.
രവി മൂടിയാല്‍ : രവി means the sun and fire. Sun, in the case of moon, while fire in the case of the body.
I am sure "paksham" also is used this way. It is obvious for the moon, but not sure what is meant about the body.
ദുഷ്ടക്കാലമഹാഗ്രഹം : For moon, ദുഷ്ട+കാല+മഹാ+ഗ്രഹം - refers to the black "planet" (രാഹു or കേതു) that causes the eclipse. For ARRV, ദുഷ്ട+കാല+മഹാ+ആഗ്രഹം. Note that "കാല" means time, യമന്‍ and black. it meens he became the victim of the desire of യമന്‍ (or time), the God of death.
രാജരാജേന്ദു : പ്രകാശിക്കുന്ന ചന്ദ്രന്‍ എന്നും രാജരാജനാകുന്ന ചന്ദ്രന്‍ എന്നും.
രോഹിണി : For moon, it is one of his wives. For ARRV, I think (somebody please correct me), it was the name of his house.
കലേശന്‍ : It is a synonym of moon (one who has many കലകള്‍ or phases). For ARRV, it means an artist.
