Hi Matthew,
These posts are in a language called Malayalam, the language spoken in the little state "Kerala" on the southwest corner of India.
The posted material is 4-lined poems, called "slokams". The next person posts a poem that starts with the first letter of second half of the previous poem.
This has been a very popular literary game in Kerala a few decades back. We are trying to renovate it on the internet. That way, we can share a lot of poems people memorized.
The poems may be posted from memory, or newly written. But these slokams have some strict meters, so writing a new original one requires some practice.
